# Diaspora & migrant stock scoreboard (ASEAN-10 + Timor-Leste)

Dedicated **international migrant stock** pack for SEA-11 — host-lens immigrants and origin-lens diaspora abroad. Companion to `topics/remittances/` (USD / %GDP **flows**) — this pack is **stock & corridors**, not remittance receipts. **Dual story:** migrant / diaspora stock ≠ remittance flows — never blur them.

**As of:** 2026-09-23
**Coverage:** BRN, KHM, IDN, LAO, MYS, MMR, PHL, SGP, THA, VNM, TLS
**Linear:** [MED2-72](https://linear.app/media-os/issue/MED2-72/diaspora-and-migrant-stock-sea-scoreboard-brief-spec)
**Rule:** No invented numbers. Empty cells stay empty. Prefer UNDESA over WDI when both match. Corridor cells only from UNDESA bilateral matrix.

## Panel rules

| Panel | Metrics | Do not |
|-------|---------|--------|
| **(1) Immigrant stock (host)** | Total + % of population | Paste remittance USD; call stock “OFW remittances” |
| **(2) Diaspora abroad (origin)** | Emigrant total + % of population | Equate diaspora size with remittance intensity |
| **(3) Top corridors (optional)** | Verified bilateral cells for PH peers | Invent corridor shares; treat residual bilateral cells as narrative fact without caveat |

## Reading notes

- **Philippines** is an **origin** powerhouse (**6.99 million** abroad, **6.03%** of mid-2024 population) with a **tiny** immigrant stock (**87,212**, **0.08%**) — opposite of Singapore.
- **Singapore** is the immigrant hub (**48.72%** of population; **2.84 million**) — show separately from the PH peer lens (MY/TH/VN/ID).
- **Malaysia** and **Thailand** are the large **host** poles in absolute immigrant stock (**3.81M** / **3.18M**).
- **WDI** `SM.POP.TOTL` / `.ZS` republishes UNDESA destination stock and **matches exactly** on SEA-11 mid-2024 totals — cite **UNDESA** as primary.
- **Remittances** live in `topics/remittances/` — never copy those USD/%GDP figures into this scoreboard as stock.
