Terms of Use

About these terms
These terms apply to your use of ASEAN in Data, a BetterGov.ph project offering public research on Southeast Asia. By using the site, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. This is a community research resource, not an official government publication.
CC BY-SA 4.0 license
Unless separately identified, our original writing, chart designs, site design, and source code are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). You may reproduce, distribute and adapt that material, including for commercial purposes, subject to the license.
- Give credit: identify ASEAN in Data and any named creators, link to the original material and license, and retain supplied attribution, copyright and disclaimer notices.
- Identify changes: say what you modified and preserve notices of earlier modifications. Do not suggest we endorse your version or its use.
- Share alike: when sharing adaptations, apply CC BY-SA 4.0 or another license allowed by its ShareAlike provisions.
- Keep reuse open: do not add legal or technological restrictions that prevent recipients from exercising the licensed rights.
The full license governs these permissions. This summary and the website terms do not replace it, add restrictions to it, or revoke permissions already granted under it.
Suggested credit: “Adapted from ASEAN in Data, [page title and URL], CC BY-SA 4.0. Changes: [description].” Retain the original data-source credits where applicable.
Third-party data and assets
Our license covers only rights we can grant. Source datasets, research packs, quoted documents, dependencies, fonts, flag artwork and other third-party assets retain their existing terms. A downloadable CSV is not a grant of new rights over its source data. Check the linked provider, pack documentation and asset notices before redistributing these materials.
A chart’s original presentation may carry our license while its underlying data has separate conditions. Public-domain material stays in the public domain, and applicable copyright exceptions remain available. The license does not grant trademark rights or permission to imply endorsement by ASEAN in Data, BetterGov.ph or a source provider; privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
Verify the research context
Read source links, observation years, extraction dates, units and coverage notes before relying on a comparison. Projections are not realised outcomes; older observations are not current measurements; a missing value is not zero. Different national definitions can limit comparisons even when indicators have similar names.
We may correct or revise pages as evidence changes. Verify consequential decisions against current primary publications and keep the relevant source and vintage with reused figures. Our methods page and data catalog explain how observations are presented.
No professional advice
The site provides general educational information. It does not provide personalised legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. Seek qualified advice appropriate to your circumstances.
Availability and external links
The site and its content are provided as available, without assurances of uninterrupted access, accuracy, completeness or suitability for a particular purpose. External websites are controlled by their operators; their content, availability and terms may change. A source link is a reference, not an endorsement.
Responsible use
Use the service lawfully. Do not compromise its security, introduce malicious software, or deliberately disrupt other readers’ access. These operational rules do not restrict copying, adaptation or other uses permitted by CC BY-SA 4.0.
Warranties and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the project and its contributors disclaim warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement, and liability for losses arising from site use, errors, unavailable services or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes a right, remedy or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. The license’s own warranty and liability provisions govern licensed material.
Corrections and content concerns
Report factual errors, outdated information, privacy concerns or possible rights infringements to volunteers@bettergov.ph. Identify ASEAN in Data, include the exact page URL, explain the concern and supply relevant evidence and a way to contact you. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive personal information.
Concerns will be considered in good faith. A review may lead to a correction, clarification or removal; no specific response time or outcome is guaranteed.
Updates and governing law
We may update these website terms and will change the date above when we do. Updates do not withdraw CC BY-SA permissions already granted to compliant users. Philippine law governs these terms, subject to mandatory protections that apply to you. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
These terms follow the community-resource approach of BetterGov.ph’s terms, adapted for this project’s research and CC BY-SA licensing. For questions, contact volunteers@bettergov.ph.
