The regional recovery advanced in 2024: 127.2 million visitors are about 88.5% of the 143.7 million recorded in 2019, up from about 102.0 million in 2023. Thailand and Malaysia still lead on volume, while the Philippines sits mid-pack at 5.95 million — now behind Cambodia’s 6.70 million. Arrivals describe inbound scale; they do not establish visitor spending or how much income stays in the local economy.

How to interpret the findings

Country-level 2019 observations are still not supplied on the country panel, so national recovery percentages versus 2019 remain unsupported. Malaysia’s series includes tourists and excursionists — treat overnight-only comparisons carefully. Timor-Leste is filled for 2024 (96.7 thousand); do not treat older blanks as zero.
