Tourism recovery
Malaysia definition: from 2024, tourists + excursionists; not an overnight-only measure.
International visitor arrivals, millions
SEA-11 · 2024
Arrivals only: country tourism receipts remain unseeded. Malaysia includes tourists and excursionists from 2024, so overnight-only comparisons need care. Timor-Leste is included in AKF2025. Country 2023 observations are retained, but country-level 2019 recovery rates are not supplied.
Regional recovery and country comparison
ASEAN visitors reached 127.2 million in 2024 — about 88.5% of the 143.7 million recorded in 2019.

Tourism receipts: not seeded
Country receipts in US dollars are blank throughout this pack. The arrivals chart does not measure spending, tourism income or economic value. No receipts chart or revenue estimate is constructed.
Key findings from this pack
- Thailand and Malaysia lead the supplied arrivals scoreboard.
- Cambodia exceeds the Philippines in the 2024 observations; the 2023 snapshot had them tied.
- Regional arrivals remain below the supplied pre-pandemic total.
- Timor-Leste now has a 2024 arrivals observation. Country receipts remain gaps; Malaysia includes tourists and excursionists.
Methods & coverage
ASEAN visitors totalled 127.2 million in 2024, compared with 102.0 million in 2023 and 143.7 million in 2019 (~88.5% of the pre-pandemic peak).
Country values come from the supplied ASEAN Key Figures arrivals scoreboard. Every available country observation has its own year, source URL and as_of in the CSV. Chart values display two decimal places; downloads preserve the original strings and precision.
Timor-Leste is now included in the AKF2025 visitor table (96.7 thousand in 2024). Older blanks were coverage gaps, not zeros.
The regional pre-pandemic comparison is documented in the supplied brief and gaps file. No country-level pre-pandemic values are seeded, so the chart does not assign country recovery percentages. Do not average across missing observations.
The gaps file describes stale WDI receipts observations and incomplete ASEAN Tourism Outlook coverage. Those sources do not provide a comparable recent SEA-11 receipts panel in this pack. We do not convert arrival volumes to dollars or fill missing countries from partial regional callouts.
